Our group at the Illinois Natural History Survey studies the ecology and conservation of streams and rivers. Our research focuses on the aquatic organisms of flowing water systems, the way they interact with each other, and the way they interact with their environment. To do this we study a variety of aquatic species including freshwater mussels, benthic macroinvertebrates, and fish to address basic ecological questions as well as inform conservation practices, management, and policy. Please look under the “Research” tab to see our current and past projects.

The group is based out of two main locations: Champaign and Springfield, Illinois.
